X-Blog
In Algebra, the letter x is used as a variable which means that it can be anything. In Science, Physicist Wilhelm Roentgen discovered special rays that could penetrate solid materials but he didn’t know much about the rays so he called them x-rays. In Hollywood, you’ve got to have the X-factor to make it. The words unlimited, mysterious, and special try their best to describe the letter X but each one always falls short.

My friend, Marc Villanueva, introduced me to the world of blogging. I haven’t completed my crash course yet but his initial pointers have led me to do my own search on what a blog is. And in my search for answers, I find that a blog has a lot in common with x. In fact, they exhibit the same qualities. Just like x, a blog can have various meanings. It can be anything. According to www.blogger.com, ”a blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world.”

Just like x, a blog is unknown. We haven’t fully defined the extent of the effects of blogging in cyberspace and the real world. According to an article entitled “The Future of Blogging,” experts equate the possibilities of blogging to the capabilities of the printing press and the mass media in sharing information, ideas, and opinions. And it’s only just begun. In terms of having the x-factor, blog fans are growing by the millions. And now, I’m one of them.

Y-Blog?
Good question! After my less-than-perfect description of what a blog is, the next logical step is to ask the question, “Why should I blog?” As I listen to Bob Dylan’s songs while thinking about the different reasons why people blog and why there are more than 10 million blogs on the Internet, I can’t help but seek for the simplistic and practical approach given by success coach, Tony Robbins. He said that every single person on Earth is driven by two forces: 1) their need to avoid pain; and 2) their desire to gain pleasure. He believes that these two twin forces are the driving forces behind all human behavior. If you’re already a blogger, then you already know what forms of pleasure you’re getting out of reading and writing blogs. But if you’re not yet a blogger, then all I can say is that you’re missing out on something beautiful and life-changing. Unfortunately for the non-bloggers, no one will be able to fully explain the benefits of blogging to you, because like anything enjoyable in life, you have to experience it for yourself. Think of this way: Imagine that you’re seated in front of your best friend and she’s eating the yummiest chocolate cake in the world. You can tell that she’s really enjoying it and she’s trying to describe to you how good the cake is. Will her description of the cake suffice or are you tempted to have a taste and try it?

Oh go on, try it!

Z-Blog
As zee Germans would say, Ubung macht den Meister. (In English, practice makes the master.) As I continue to hone my skills, I hope to write more blogs regularly and I plan to visit more blogsites. I welcome any recommended sites from other bloggers. I hope you can also recommend my site to other bloggers. More importantly, I would appreciate comments from you and I’ll do my best to reply to them.

I pray that through my writing, I may stimulate a spark in your brain, fire up warmth in your heart, and ignite feelings of pleasure in your body that will move you to always be at your personal best. I hope you can visit my blogsite regularly. I promise you, “Zee best is yet to come!”

Cheers,
