To fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence;

I’m sure by now, you’ve read the article about the Philippines in Encyclopedia Dramatica (ED). If you haven’t read it yet, let me warn you of its contents before you read it. It is full of racist comments and it is very likely that you will feel insulted by the article. But before your blood boils, it might be good to read what the site has to say about the following countries:
1) The United Kingdom
2) USA
3) Australia
Personally, I believe there is no excuse for their racism and bigotry. It’s just wrong! But after reading the ED articles about the other countries, I realized that ED is not meant to be taken seriously. In fact, if you take the time to read the other articles in the site, including the ones about Wikipedia and Google, it’s easy to see that this site is just plain stupid. But don’t take my word for it, read their articles or check out this forum and read what 30 other people have to say about ED.
Let’s not stoop down to the level of the writers of ED who may be suffering from our favorite disorder: KSP-kulang sa pansin (attention-seeking). So to my fellow patriotic countrymen, let’s put our swords (or digital pens) away and let’s fight another day!

Actually, Encyclopedia Dramatica is a website that also allows user contributions from other people. Similar to Wikipedia. If you would look at the Discussion pages you would see that there are other people who are trying to add more racist content.
I wish ED should have resorted to clean comedy. What they’re doing right now is a pathetic attempt at being funny.
So sad.

Hi Karlo! I guess it goes without saying that some people have a distorted view of what’s funny and what’s mean. This brings to mind how fond some people are of slapstick comedy. They just love seeing people getting hurt and dealing with the pain. Maybe it helps them deal with their own pain. Perhaps this is what the writers of ED are trying to do, too. They’re struggling to deal with their own eccentricities and so they have to look at others and then they can say to themselves, “Look, they’re weird too!”
ED is a hopelessly unfunny website built by a bunch of very bored white college studes and internet junkies with nothing to do with their brains, time, huge bandwidth and sick of internet drama and “weak people” than they are. To assert their supremacy as the self-styled arbiters of “cool” they have this as proof.
Perhaps the reason why the makers of ED decided to pick on Filipinos is that most of our misguided young countrymen have a tendency to stick too often to the webcam, pose like they’re gangsta rappers (I’ve seen too many), or post useless topics filled with unintelligible txtspeak.

Right on, DTA! Let’s not put up with their arrogance. I’m not too sure if they’re all white, though. I’m sure their so-called “lulz” writers come from various places from many different races.
I actually enjoy Encyclopedia Dramatica because I read stuff about YouTube scandals there. Most of the time they take time to write about the “LULZ” and most of the time, their pages are the only source that speak the truth because there’s a cover-up.
The EDiots there vary. Some are really funny without being racist and all, but some are not and it can’t be avoided I guess because Encyclopedia Dramatica is all about the drama on the Intarnetz, because the Internet = serious business.

Now that’s a very funny name for the ED writers! Hahaha… But some people might protest and say we’re being mean to them too and we’ve stooped down to their brand of negative-labelling and name-calling. Oh well, they deserve it!
Dude, the EDiots call themselves that because they don’t take themselves seriously and know LULZworthy material when they see it. You are butthurt srsly. Get over your fursecution complex. Take the stick out and put on your wizard robes. You will only turn into a LOLcow if you take on ED. But please do this site needs moar drama.
i think karlo’s right. you could be funny without really offending other people. the racist/sexist remarks are uncalled for. it’s not as if we pinoys can’t take a joke. come on. we’re probably the most good-natured people on earth. but to make fun of the country by describing our women as prostitutes? come on.

grabe, after reading the site completely, im not laughing anymore. i was amused at first, pero it’s turning out to be a really hateful definition of our country. the person/s who wrote this must really really be carying a grudge against the philippines.

Hi ris, as lollerz said, let’s just take them for what they are - They’re EDiots! It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy - or label
Bawwwwww. ED is teh best!!111!!eleventy111 Don’t take yourselves too seriously, articles on any country in ED are BOUND to be racist. If you take offense its because you think the intrabutts are serious business. Meh.

Hi lollerz! At least you can roll with the ED punches.
I bet you, the ED writers have weird personalities. Just look at the kind of garbage they put out there. They must have so much garbage in themselves as well. But then again, we all have some form of garbage (or emotional baggage or hang-ups) that distort our view of this beautiful world.
It’s a gag site. It’s supposed to be retarded. The only thing that bothers me about this issue is that a lot of Pinoys seem to have lost their sense of humor and the ability to laugh at our selves, and are now taking everything as “true” and as an insult.
Seriously, one of the reasons why I’m not interested in migrating to the US is that I hate the oversensitivity and political correctness. It pains me to see us Pinoys going in that direction.

Hi cyberpunk! I think most, if not all, metropolitan areas are becoming melting pots for different races, nationalities, and cultures. And it’s only natural that people become more culturally-sensitive and politically-correct in their thinking and behavior toward others. In my personal opinion, I’d rather put up with the pundits who remind us to be politically correct and culturally-sensitive than deal with hooligans who have no other intention but to spread hate and bigotry.
I agree with cyber-punk. Too much sensitivity can be a form of intolerance as well, particularly when it devolves into hair trigger litigation. With respect to ED, its all about irreverence because the interwebs are not the serious biz some people make it out to be. Toodles.
