Happy World Graphic Design Day! Check out the patron saints of graphic designers on this site. My favorite one is Saint Concepta.

Newsmaker: Tigil Buga for a Minute
Motorists in Makati and other major cities will be switching off their motor engines for a minute at exactly 8am on Monday the 28th of April as part of Earth Month celebrations in the country. The project is called Tigil Buga (Stop Smoke Belching) and it aims to raise awareness of the harmful effects of engine exhaust to the environment. Makati City started this project in 2007 and this year they will be joined by the cities of Davao, Baguio, Marikina, Pasig and Quezon. Perhaps in the future, we can share this project with other countries just like what happened to Sydney’s Earth Hour which became global this year.
Quote of the Day: Ferdinand Magellan
Our quote today comes from Ferdinand Magellan, the first explorer who dared to circumnavigate the world. He landed in the Visayan Islands in 1521 and demanded that the natives worship the cross and pay homage to the King of Spain. He was successful in convincing (and proselytizing) the tribal chiefs except for Lapu-Lapu who refused his demands. Magellan declared war on him and he was killed in battle on April 27, 1521. The quote below is atttributed to him but it was actually fabricated by the writer, Robert Green Ingersoll.
I believe it was Magellan who said, “The church says the earth is flat; but I have seen its shadow on the moon, and I have more confidence even in a shadow than in the church.” - RG Ingersoll in his essay, “Individuality”
The Power of the Word
Let all the earth cry out to God with joy. - Psalm 66
