Many of us were exposed to Milo’s campaign to grow up with olympic energy. We were all inspired by commercials such as the one below.

And when Milo sowed the seeds of this message, Marco Torres was obviously on good soil. He grew up, studied in good schools, and in his role as a torchbearer, he is now spreading the Olympic Creed which states that “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

Next Friday, the 8th of August 2008, this creed will be heard across 205 countries in five continents. So now’s the time feel the heat and be touched by the fiery Olympic spirit. To help you brush up on the lessons of Olympics101, visit the exhibition at the Mall of Asia showcasing the profiles of our “magigiting” Pinoy athletes and heroic torchbearer.

I have a feeling that our Filipino Olympians will be inspired by our very own Filipino torchbearer Marco Torres. Plus of course, our country’s flag-bearer in the opening ceremonies and parade will be no other than our  Pambansang Kamao, Manny Pacquiao.  I hope and pray that we will be blessed with our first Olympic gold.  Sama-sama nating isigaw, “Mabuhay ang mga atletang Pilipino!”
