To Old Friends and Newfound Online Buddies,

Thanks for being here. My goal in creating this weblog is simply this: To generate interest and discussions about issues that (should) matter to us Filipinos.  I know that there are those who believe that these things should be left to our politicians or journalists. There are also those who think that they don’t have time to talk about current events. And so I’ll do my best to post articles that will naturally arouse your curiosity. I’ll try to focus on topics that you can talk about with your family and friends.

History has shown us that real change starts with conversations among passionate people. As we share our views with one another, I hope that we can reach a consensus. A consensus that tells us that you and I have to do our part to make our nation work. And this is what this website is all about. LesterCavestany.com aims to advocate social concern at a level that’s manageable and doable. Social concern that we can easily fit into our busy personal lives.

In closing, I’d like to leave you with one of my favorite quotes. It comes from the famous anthropologist Margaret Mead. She said, “Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.”
