Sic O Clock News is Back! (I Demand Fair and Balanced News!)Thursday, 17 January 2008

Before We React to Encyclopedia Dramatica…Friday, 11 January 2008
Personally, I believe there is no excuse for their racism and bigotry. It’s just wrong! But after reading the ED articles about the other countries, I realized that ED is not meant to be taken seriously. In fact, if you take the time to read the other articles in the site, including the ones about Wikipedia and Google, it’s easy to see that this site is just plain stupid. But don’t take my word for it, read their articles or check out this forum and read what 30 other people have to say about ED.

“Ang Lagay Eh” (RP Tops 2007 Bribery Survey by Transparency International)Thursday, 06 December 2007
Sad to say, ito po ang lagay ng ating bayan (This is the state of our nation). As President Arroyo quoted in one of her speeches, public service is a public trust. But when the trust is gone, the people have no choice but to take it to the streets.

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and speak with Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus. Gigi and Pam of the Philippine Embassy in Vietnam invited me and Michelle to the despedida party of Consul-Gen Baisa and Ms Bel. Sec Lapus was the guest of honor and luckily, Ambassador del Rosario asked me to join them at their table.
We talked about life, family, careers, and of course, CyberEducation! Here are some of the insights I gained from Sec Lapus and from my own research about CyberEd:

I’m sure by now, you’ve heard, seen, read, and reacted to Teri Hatcher’s controversial lines in Desperate Housewives about “some med school in the Philippines.”
If you haven’t, then you have to view the clip for yourself (Thank God for YouTube!)

A Must-Read for Filipinos: Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam HarrisSunday, 30 September 2007
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
— St Francis of Assisi

The Beginning of the End of Graft and Corruption (Thoughts on the Plunder Conviction of former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada)Saturday, 15 September 2007
Now since man is naturally inclined to avoid pain — and since labor is pain in itself — it follows that man will resort to plunder whenever plunder is easier than work. History shows this quite clearly. And under these conditions, neither religion nor morality can stop it.
